Pupil Premium
At Gorse Covert, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their very best — no matter their background or circumstances.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to help schools raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Funding is allocated for pupils who:
- Are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or have been at any point in the past six years (Ever 6 FSM),
- Have been looked after by a local authority (LAC), or
- Have left local authority care through adoption, a child arrangements order, a special guardianship order, or a residence order.
At our school, we use Pupil Premium funding to ensure all children have access to:
- High-quality teaching that meets their individual needs,
- Targeted academic and pastoral support to help them overcome barriers to learning, and
- Rich experiences and enrichment opportunities that develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
Our approach is grounded in research and evidence from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and is reviewed annually to ensure that funding has maximum impact.
