PSHE
Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) is taught discretely but is also taught whenever there is an opportunity. It feeds through all our subjects, behaviour policy, Collective Worship and other whole school assemblies.
We use the PSHE Association for guidance, plans and resources. Our PSHE curriculum meets the new requirements for Relationships Education which is compulsory in all schools. PSHE also incorporates Sex Education which is outlined further below.
Sex Education
As part of our PSHE curriculum, we also teach Relationships and Sex Education. Parents have the right to withdraw from the non-science, non-statutory components if they wish, but not the relationships education. Further information on what is taught or to discuss the withdrawal of your child, please speak to the headteacher. Please see our RSE Policy in the policies section.
My Happy Mind
Our school is fortunate to have been provided with the My Happy Mind programme from January 2023 which has been fully funded by our Clinical Commissioning Group for one year. This is due to the impact the programme is having on mental health and behaviour in schools. Their research shows that there has been a reduction in exclusions, children requiring SENCo support and in CAMHS referrals.
For more information, see their website https://myhappymind.org/
We will therefore be using My Happy Mind, alongside our PSHE curriculum. Please see below for how it maps with the objectives from the PSHE Association and the progression of learning when following the programme.
